The journals have been full of drab and unhappy things so here is something useful for everyone. Best of luck with your romantic endeavors as we get ready to pursue another year at Hogwarts. No matter what the political climate, you can't stop the universal language of love.

10 Ways To Woo

1. Be sincere with your compliments. Compliment us on something you truly admire. If you don't really think it, it's probably not a good idea to say it. You should use taste when coming up with your compliment as well. It is always better to talk about a lady's eyes, personality, charms rather than her assets and by assets I mean bum and ta-tas.
2. Listen. Listening will help you figure out what we like. As women, we like to drop subtle hints about the things we do or do not like. If we say we like muggles, you will not win your way into our hearts by talking about your epic crusade to destroy them all. If we say we like a certain brand of perfume or a flower, it's usually our way of telling you that we'd like it if you brought us that thing. Speaking of which, I really enjoy honeydukes liquor chocolates especially the Irish Cream ones and fortune flowers.
3. Be real. Don't exaggerate or boast to make yourself sound better. We know you're full of it and while we might laugh it's not because we think you're being cute. It's often because we think you're acting like a completely thick dunderhead.
4. Don't give unsolicited advice. We hate it when you tell us what to do and how to do it. You just come off as controlling and most of us ladies do not like that.
5. Don't talk about your shag history. It's okay if we bring it up but generally it's just in bad taste.
6. Don't act desperate. Nothing is a bigger turn off than a guy who acts needy or constantly has be near you when you aren't even dating. Give us space and we'll fancy you more. Actually some people enjoy when you play hard to get. Every girl loves a challenge.
7. Don't constantly talk about yourself. Yes, we want to know about you but ONLY talking about yourself gives us the idea that you're self-absorbed and really we like guys who want to talk about us. Conversation should be balanced.
8. No other women. If you're trying to win my heart over, don't go eying other people. Flirting is innocent sometimes but if I see you full-on undressing another lady with your eyes it's going to be a major turn off. I'm going to assume you're not serious.
9. Treat us with respect. Don't call by any silly name until you've earned the right. We are not birds. We're not broads. We have names. You may come up with a pet name for us after a long standing amount of time or we've entered into a formal relationship. Don't toy with our emotions either. Treat us as you would like to be treated. We are equals not subordinates.
10. Don't pressure us. If we want to date you, we will. If we want to snog you, we will. It's a simple concept. Bullying or pressuring us will not get you, your way.

Surely you can't be serious.

I am deadly serious.

There should be another couple:

11. Don't wear socks in bed

12. Be considerate
Don't leave the seat up, replace the toothpaste lid and pick up your own dirty boxers. No, they don't actually live on the floor

I don't mind socks. Shoes are another story. I'd rather he have warm feet than cold feet though.

I think that might fall under respect.

Socks are a big no-no. There is just something completely off putting about a buck-naked man wearing socks. I'd much rather cold feet than stinky, sweaty, grotty socks.

You'd be surprised.

I didn't say they were at your face, its just when you Merlins beard, am I going to have to draw a map? ah, see him you take in things and when you're occupied and looking down

Look. Perhaps this isn't the best conversation topic. Ask me when you reach 19.

You really should stop confusing me with Pansy. I know if I were you I'd imagine my face on her hideous body but really it's not nice.

You're welcome, Colin! I'm glad someone appreciates it.

Broken heart, doesn't sound fun.
